What Happened to Secular Chaplain?
The Secular Chaplain blog was up for five years and you can read those older posts there. Now, the Freethinking Chaplain has moved over here, on my home site (and free of intrusive ads).
btw, the intent of the word “Chaplain” is to recall the many years I served as an Interfaith Chaplain in the San Francisco Bay Area. I’m still interested in the multi-faith world yet I’m nudging any networks to welcome and include secular representatives and consider evolving from “inter-faith” to. . .the next step.
Hi again Chris. I just wanted to let you know that I am a Humanist Chaplain at a Western Canadian University, Kwantlen University. There are 2 of us now in Canada although a few have come and gone. I just finished a chapter for a book on Humanist Chaplaincy for the Multi-Faith publisher in Toronto on Spiritual care. I write about the need that is slowly growing and now the need for secular chaplains like you and me is growing. There are barriers particularly in Prisons, Hospitals and the military we are trying to address slowly here with Humanist Canada. I will keep you in the loop. If you would like to read my chapter let me know. Dr. Marty Shoemaker, Vancouver, BC,Canada
Happy for you, Marty, and glad to read that chapter if you want to email it. Congratulations on the writing project. Chris
