In our troubled world (yes, an understatement), I found the words of this Somali biologist–who just had a scorpion named after him (!)–of some comfort, or at least wise for our time:

The Somalis have a proverb: ‘A single finger cannot wash a face.’
“In other words: It’s no use myself being prominent and well known, if I don’t have people supporting me.”

Even those of us who are not well-known need that sense of support, don’t we?

And, I wouldn’t mind having a scorpion named after me either … at least I think so!
