Humboldt at the Smithsonian

Take a guided tour, led by the Curator, through the fascinating new Alexander von Humboldt exhibition at the Smithsonian American Art Museum.

This adventurous explorer inspired Jefferson, Darwin, Church, Thoreau, Muir and many others.  There’s even a mastodon!

btw, in Cosmos (1845) his major work on exploration and the universe, he never mentions God.  Doesn’t mean he was anti-religious.  He simply found Nature to be wonderful enough without any super-nature.
