Cloud Cannons

As the expected summer afternoon thunderstorm rolls into the Blue Ridge. . .

Cloud cannons roll

Beyond, nearer

Sky skirmishes engage

Armies in the air

Civil War in the up yonder

Gray against the Blue

Sunrays cut by swords of light

Billowing bursts of White

To hold or free the Black

What did people in 1863 hear

here in these mountain hollers?

Did they wonder:

Storm

or

Seige?

Rain

or

Ruin?

As the sky was torn

so the people.

  1. Hey Chris. thought this article from a very reputable magazine might interest you. We nature lovers are also people lovers. Lots of spin offs for the reconciliation of our relationship with indigenous people all over the world. Have a look at the attachment.
